Säubrennerkirmes Wittlich
It is no accident that the Säubrennerkirmes (pig burning festival) in Wittlich was so dubbed. As legend has it the Wittlichers are taking revenge on the pig for the conquest of their town during the middle-ages, allegedly caused by a sow. Therefore, in this Eifel town at the end of August, the world revolves around roast pork. This folk festival is one of the region’s largest attractions.
