"Pfälzer
Saumagen" (tripe) is perhaps this regions best known export.
And no wonder
as ex-chancellor Helmut Kohl often chose to serve this
delicacy to visiting dignitaries. Hearty food washed down
with a "Pfälzer Schoppen" , that’s
the good life in the Pfalz. Due to the mild climate the
Pfalz has
a slightly
mediterranian flair, kiwis and figs grow next to the grape
vines in the south of the region.
Among the most famous buildings of the Pfalz are the Dom
zu Speyer (Speyer cathederal) and the Hambacher Schloss (Hambacher
palace). "Wiege der deutschen Demokratie“ ("the
cradle of German democracy“)
Kaiserslautern has the support of the entire region when
it comes to football, a region that is also the venue for
the largest wine festival in Germany the Bad
Dürkheimer
Wurstmarkt.
