Worms
is the Nibelungenstadt. Recently the town and the Nibelungen
have been in the public
eye, the reason is the Nibelungenfestspiele organised by
Dieter Wedel and interpreted by actors in the line of Mario
Adorf. In Worms the myth of the Nibelungen is ever present,
even if only when you’re drinking a freshly pulled
Hagenbräu. Although, the Nibelungen’s treasure
has never been found, gold digging tourists have left plenty
of their own treasure in the towns coffers.
The Wormser year has many other highlights:
the Jazz festival "Jazz & Joy“ which
has welcomed such stars as Al Jarreau or Joe Cocker, who
in turn gave much celebrated concerts, not to mention one
of the largest folk festivals in Rhineland-Palatinate,
the Backfischfest.
