The night
of a 1000 fires
Oberwesel is the pearl of the Middle-Rhine.
The town is marked by the architecture of the middle
ages. Its walls with their 16 towers are particularly
impressive. On the second saturday in February partying
is the order of the day in this middle Rhine town.
On the “night of a thousand fires” the
sky over the town is metamorphosed into a sea of light
as fireworks light up the river banks.
The echoes of
their explosions resound through the steep cliffs of
the Rhine-Valley. From the illuminated cliffs of the
Loreley you can here the alluring song of the Rhine’s
most seductive female. She sings as the town’s
folk party until the early hours.
